150 years – one family
Since 1 September 2006 Werner Borgers, born in 1969, has been managing Borgers SE & Co. KGaA.
From 2003 he initially worked as an authorized officer, mainly in sales and marketing – today he is a family manager in two respects: as a married father of three children and as the CEO of the company, in the 5th generation of the founder’s family.
Training and career
After A-levels and mandatory military service, Werner Borgers completed a two-year German-French apprenticeship as a bank clerk at the Paris branch of Commerzbank AG, followed by a course of business studies at Bayreuth University, with the main emphasis on marketing and banking management/finances.
After finishing his studies as an MBA in 1997, Werner Borgers started working for the automotive supplier Mannesmann VDO AG as project controller and later became assistant to the management and team leader in sales and marketing. From 1999 onwards, as a management consultant for Roland Berger in the Competence Center Marketing & Sales he took care of the market/strategic reorientation of companies of various sectors. From 2001 until joining Borgers SE & Co. KGaA Werner Borgers worked freelance in this field.
