150 years – one family

A long story cut short

Johann Borgers (1841–1914)
Johann Borgers (1841–1914)

Since its foundation in 1866 Borgers has mostly been a supplier to the automotive industry, even though then it was coaches which were fitted with wadding. At the same time, Borgers is actually one of the oldest recycling companies, as even then company founder Johann Borgers used shredded fibres in manufacturing, i.e. raw material obtained from second-hand textiles and leftovers from the clothing industry.

By growing steadily, Borgers – with its sites and co-operations – has developed into a worldwide operating partner of the automotive industry, now supplying acoustically effective textile components from 26 plants. We also use our competence in the development of insulating materials for domestic appliances.

The company group further comprises the special machinery manufacturers Olbrich and R+S Technik. More than 7,500 employees within the entire group obtain a turnover of more than 900 million Euros.

With their headquarters in Bocholt in Westphalia, Borgers SE & Co. KGaA is still in the possession of and managed by the founder’s family, now in their 5th generation.
